WE CORDIALLY INVITE YOU TO THE SCREENING OF STUDENT DOCUMENTARY FILMS
The students will present a group of their original short films, which were made at the Department of Documentary Filmmaking (KDT FAMU) in recent years. The four selected images are under the autumnal title "to fall asleep in winter sleep and dream".
Each, in its own cinematic poetics, sensitively narrates moments of forgetting, destroying, dying, but also of dreaming and connecting to the collective unconscious.
We start screening at 6:30. The screening will last 70 minutes and there will be a discussion afterwards. We are looking forward to it! Free admission.

FILM NOTES:
Film title: Apocalypse yesterday, today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow
Year: 2025 (premiere at IDFF Jihlava)
Author: Anastasiia Bonadyha
Length: 20 minutes
Ukrainian Nikopol is in the crosshairs of Russian weapons for several reasons. There was a giant dam nearby. Just down the road is the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. With the destruction of the reservoir, the people lost their source of drinking water. And the plant lost its cooling. Yet many people, like the priest Bohdan, remain in the place cursed by God... A report from a place that has been struck by wounds of biblical proportions, yet people continue to live there.
"Through Bohdan's story, the film seeks answers to the question of why people stay in their homes, even though every day may be their last." - TPS Remízek
Film title: Serpentis
Year: 2022
By Sarah Lomen
Length: 18 minutes
This meditative film reveals the urban and natural corners through which the endless folds of industrial pipelines run, encircling their surroundings like a uroboros snake. The pipeline leads the camera's gaze across vast fields and housing estates, connecting the paddlers on the river, the children playing and the babbling brook, whose actions it is a mute witness to.
Film title: They say the longest dream lasts 45 minutes
Year: 2023
Author Juliana Moska & Zdeňka Petrová
Length: 14minutes
The moment just after waking up, in which the outlines of the dream reality dissolve into three dots behind the sentence "I dreamt that...," gives a glimpse into the consciousness of a person suffering from short-term memory loss. A collage composed of home movies and shots of abandoned urban landscapes traces fragments of family memory that dissolve into dreams and once inhabited sites of the unconscious.
Film title: Portrait of Irma Geissl, who died sad
Author.
Length: 18 minutes
Year: 2024
Irma Geisslová was a Czech poet and prose writer who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The director of the film and the direct participants of the film enter into an imaginary dialogue with the talented author of intimate poetry, now forgotten by literary history. The result is a portrait of a personality composed of private confessions of affection for the work.
