How does it work?
We meet once every two months. At each meeting we read one particular book and then talk about it, analyze it, share our impressions. The club is open to anyone who wants to discover the depth of stories, reflect on what literature brings out in us - and get to know their neighbourhood in a stimulating and friendly atmosphere.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 2 February at 6pm. We will be discussing the book "Girl, Woman, Other" by Bernardine Evaristo. The novel has been translated into English by Viktoria Hanišová.
The capacity of the space is limited, so please make a reservation by e-mail knihovna@bubahof.com.
"Girl, woman, other" by Bernardine Evaristo
Girl, Woman, Other follows the gripping lives of twelve British women on a harrowing journey across the past century. A fearless farmer, a lesbian feminist, a middle-aged cleaner, a successful banker, a strict teacher and a housewife with post-natal depression...
Each of them is different, and yet they resemble each other more than they would expect. They are united by their desire to find something: a shared past, a better future, a place to call home, understanding, a husband, a lover, a lost mother, a missing father, or just a glimmer of hope. This novel, at the intersection of prose and poetry, is a celebration of black women and otherness.
