This meta-reflection of the lecture format is a radical selection from a series for high schools focused on visual culture with a critical and engaged approach. The choice of this format is based on the belief that visual culture concerns each and every one of us - we all live in a world of images, media and signs that not only influence our perception of the world, but that we also create and disseminate ourselves.
Visual culture explores how images - from art to media to everyday visual environments - influence our understanding of the world, identity formation and power dynamics. Within this framework, the image becomes not only a tool of communication, but also a means of shaping our values, beliefs, and social relationships.
The lecture is not only an introduction to the basics of visual culture, but above all an invitation to actively engage in critical investigation and reflection on what we see - and why.
The lecture takes place as part of the accompanying programme to the exhibition cycle Dr.Art.
