Transfer collective - Exhibition for punishment

11 and 12 December 2024
10-21 h
Space Olga
Nad Primaskou 821/1
Prague 10 - Strašnice

We cordially invite you to events focused on the collective preparation of the exhibition, which will be based on the principles of Scott Peck's Community Building work. Anyone is free to join, contribute and disengage as they wish at any given time, and the process will be open and flexible. The aim of this event is to explore the process by which collective experience is formed and incidentally the exhibition is created.

Flexible Ambitions / Exhibition for punishment

Intensive meeting of the Transfer Group

This meeting is another in a series of events that we are using to prepare for our January exhibition at the Olga Gallery. It focuses on mapping out how to do an exhibition collectively and what that means.

We trace our desires and expectations associated with the group.
They're all fermenting now. Let's be more radical!
Or let's ferment if we want. I don't really know what we want. Collectively.

We share the ambitions and fears associated with the exhibition.
Friends, I'm going to bed from the doctor. And the car is still in the shop. Okay! I'm not blowing my nose, no.
At least we can try a game of who's not there is there.

We combine art with family, family with work, work with personal life.
I'd probably cut it short, but now I actively have to cook.
Maybe I'll write it in the morning but maybe in the afternoon. But OLGA will have it tonight. I won't send it to her till tomorrow.

We live the reality of shared fatigue and overwork.
Sorry for whining and not being constructive here.

We want to work together as a collective.
I repeat, I see the biggest penetration on zoom on Thursday 18h. OKAY?

We try to capture the moments of our group.
Does anyone know what it's about?

Boring, complicated, exciting.
You really want it to be called a punishment show?
And won't that make us sound like boy scouts?

We are an interdisciplinary research group that calls itself Transfer. Our members include artists, therapists, parents, students, naturalists, educators, we are all different ages and stages of life. Our big theme is contact, which we look at from a therapeutic and artistic perspective. We see vulnerability and proximity as a new survival strategy.

The transfer collective was created in a pandemic situation. Lockdown and the impossibility of physical proximity formed its basic field of orientation. How to be together without being together, online, or simply without (physical) encounters? Physical distance is also a metaphor for a personal sense of isolation. The ability to be close even at a distance overcomes this isolation. We train, create, test these abilities. This is also why we understand Transfer in no small part as a way of transferring experiences, sharing sensibilities, dreaming together.

During the autumn, we will hold a series of meetings in the Olga space, which will culminate in an exhibition in early 2025. We don't know in advance what we will create, each meeting is an open format for joint exploration of the space, the theme, the situation. We come to Olga with the idea that something is being created, rather than that something has already been created and we want to exhibit it. The story of this creative process will be a soap opera. A telenovela that you will be able to play in and that you will enjoy the most when you see all the episodes (including the bonuses from the shoot:).

Our future activities are also shaped by the fact that we have spent the last two years rather in each other (in our own, differently) and Transfer as a collective has not been active. Now we are finding our way back to each other, our lives have changed. We ask ourselves a lot of questions - are the group and its principles still alive? What do we have to go through again, what do we have to leave behind in order to meet differently - through the exhibition?

These questions also belong to you, who will be part of our process - you may or may not help us find answers, you can co-create new impulses. We do not want to divide ourselves into two camps, "us" and "you", and therefore we directly invite you to participate in our activities in Olga.

The activities of the Olga space and gallery are realized with the financial support of Municipality of Prague 10, hl. m. Prague a Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
