Carpentry workshop for adults: who has a chair, lives

18 May 2025
10-15 h
Space Olga
Nad Primaskou 821/1
Prague 10 - Strašnice

How to refurbish a chair, stool or necklace?
What is behind the renovation and where does the restoration begin?
What historical and sentimental value can furniture have for us?

We invite you to the Olga space for a workshop on the basics of renovation under the guidance of an experienced woodworker.

We will look at the types of materials, the properties of wood, basic joinery and the trials and tribulations of finishing. We will reflect on sustainability, the meaning of repairs and the aesthetic value of refurbished furniture.

Practically, we aim for a satisfactory result. We will learn to sand, seal, finish, stabilize, repair smaller pieces of damaged veneer, remove old varnish and paint.

You can bring your own all-wood chair, stool, or stool without serious structural damage. Or you can refurbish one of the chairs we already have in Olga as part of the workshop.

The capacity of the workshop is limited. Book your place in the form here.

Facilities, materials and small refreshments will be provided. It is recommended to bring work clothes.

The event is free of charge as part of the project SOUSEDSKÁ PŮJČOVŠNA: CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND RE-USE ACTIVITIES LOCALLY, supported by Municipality of Prague 10. You can make a voluntary donation on site to help run the Olga Gallery space.
