\nLooking for stories of Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd Park\n<\/h1>
\nThe project of collecting memories originated as a response to the Corona-virus crisis. Measures to prevent the spread of the disease prevented mass actions for a long time, even in Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd Park<\/a> and isolated people in their homes. We don't know if we will face similar crises sooner or later, so we are looking for a model to build local community, solidarity and belonging even in such a situation.\n\nWe are at the beginning, so we are looking for partners who have dealt or are still dealing with the history of Stra\u0161nice<\/strong> and old residents who still remember the park from the 1970s or the construction of the metro that gave the park its present form.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

\nTogether with local associations and cultural actors in Des\u00edtka, with whom we have been cooperating for a year on the restoration of the park (Memory of the Nation, House of Reading....), we also want to to find a way to communicate<\/strong>to reach out offline and online, especially to the older generation, and engage them safely and comfortably in the story of the FS Park.\n

If we manage to gain people's trust, the project can be a platform for meetings even in times of unexpected crises. Such long-term continuity is essential for us.<\/p>\nTogether with experts, memorials and fans of the project we want to create an archive of memories and documents about this somewhat hidden but also historically unique place. Form of presentation<\/strong> will emerge from the collaborative work, so as to inspire others to participate in the long-term building of the memory of this place.\n\nThe aim of the project is to activate people to collaborate and participate in something interesting and useful, all from the safety of their homes, using current online technologies. Predominantly older people are making memories at home during the epidemic and we would like to enable them to share these together and record the fading memory of the place and the local community. The result will be a long-term documentation project, but the actual goal of the current project is to connect lonely people and inspire them to meaningful action.\n\n

Some history<\/h4>\n

The Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd Park is a small piece of greenery just behind the Vinohrady Cemetery towards Stra\u0161nice. It was always a diagonal road that went around the cemetery on the eastern side and connected the lower Vr\u0161ovice road with the upper Vinohradsk\u00e1 road. The surrounding construction in the 1940s gave the park a square shape, but preserved a fragment of the original diagonal shortcut. In the 1950s, the playground was probably eradicated here in the \"Z\" action, which gradually became overgrown during the normalisation period. During the construction of the metro to Strasnice in 1987, the engineers of the metro station erected colourful fans here, giving the park its current appearance. Thus, a small green belly with the original path and the normalisation \"Centre Pompidou\" was created.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

The unnamed park, although according to memorials it was called the Partisans' Park after the war and until the 1980s, was named in 2015 by the Prague 10 City Hall in cooperation with the Memory of the Nation after Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd. The ceremony was also attended by the then 88-year-old Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd, a participant in the resistance for which he served 12 years in a communist prison. Mikul\u00e1\u0161 Kroupa originally suggested naming the park after him, but since it is not customary to name parks after still living personalities, it was named after his father, also Franti\u0161ek Such\u00fd, the pre-war director of the Stra\u0161nick\u00fd Crematorium. His father Franti\u0161ek and his son hid the ashes of those executed by the Nazis during the war and after the war he was also arrested by the communists, together with his wife Olga.<\/p>
