We cordially invite you to a discussion that will take place within the exhibition series "THE HERITAGE OF COLLECTIVES: ADAPTATION AND TRANSFORMATION" and its fourth exhibition entitled SECRET MESSAGE / INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE of the artistic group Pode Bal.
Moderator: Tamara Moyzes
Discussant(s): Michelle Adler and Antonín Kopp
After a short presentation by Pode Bal, together with Michelle Adler and Antonín Kopp, we will try to answer the following questions: where and when does political art cross over into artivism (art and activism)? Why does activist art rethink the notion of authorship? Are collectives and collaborations crucial for contemporary art? What were the burdens and connotations of these concepts in the 1990s? What cultural capital did the Czech art scene inherit from the Pode Bal group? How and why do collectives end and what is left behind? Is it possible to make any generalizations or even lessons for the upcoming generation?
The Pode Bal group works with a wide range of approaches, from performances and pseudo-advertising campaigns to political activism. Pode Bal intervenes in public space, giving lectures and presentations on artistic activism, imitating commercial graphic practices and provoking our national bad conscience.
Admission is voluntary, you can contribute to the operation of the Olga space.
