EVEN CELEBRATION IS AN ACTIVITY
AND A SET TABLE IS AN EXPRESSION OF TOGETHERNESS

This year, for the sixth time, we are inviting the neighborhood and visitors to a festively set table in František Suchý Park. Accept the invitation and a seat at the common table. Thanks to you, the Neighborhood Lunch will once again materialize in the spirit of togetherness and celebration of the good life in Strašnice. You and your loved ones are welcome. As well as your stories and memories of the place where we live together.

PROGRAMME

15:30 – self-advocates / Rhythm
A group of self-advocates from Rhythm, where they help people with disabilities live normal and active lives, joined in the cleanup and restoration of the park. For this they deserve a big THANK YOU. For the František Suchý Park they also found out interesting facts about litter, pollution and warming in the urban landscape. They produced brief texts for awareness raising, which we are preparing for installation and publication. They will share their findings over lunch.

16:00 - literary reading
Ondřej Macl is a writer, performer, social worker, editor of the magazine Prostor, co-organiser of events at the Hybernská Campus and currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Arts, where he is researching the Czech sea.

17:00 - presentation of the Olga Gallery concept and guided tour of the current exhibition THE LAST BELL RINGS

17:30 - performance of the women's folklore ensemble LADA
The Lada Women's Choir was formed in November 2015 from a group of friends who share an enthusiasm for music and singing together.Their repertoire consists of Moravian folk songs - love songs, wedding songs, lawn songs, ballads and others, and they try to interpret them according to the folk culture. The Lada Choir released its debut album Všelijake kvety in December 2023, which was nominated for the Radio Head Award in the world music category. They will perform in the park with a chamber ensemble.

GET INVOLVED IN THE PREPARATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

The Neighborhood Luncheon is a great event that, to our delight, is growing into a tradition. This involves organizing and preparing the equipment for the park. We very much welcome your involvement with both the preparation and the actual execution and help on the day of the event. Would you like to get involved? Drop us an email or give us a call. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD MENU WELCOME

You can also influence the composition of the neighbourhood menu. Your contributions to the common board are welcome. We will serve our food, traditionally, in clay plates made by the artist Barbara Dayef.

YOUR OWN CUTLERY AND GLASS TO TAKE WITH YOU

Please prefer reusable packaging and do not forget to bring cutlery or a glass. This will minimise unnecessary waste and live up to the slogan "the best waste is the waste that doesn't get generated". Basic drinks will be provided on site.

What is the meaning?

The original intention was to establish a new tradition of celebration that we are creating together. For us, the Neighborhood Lunch is a symbol of togetherness in the original sense of the word. The symbol, the Greek sym-ballein - "to bring together" - functioned then as a badge of identity. A person at a feast was given a piece of a broken object, and whenever he proved himself, he was welcomed as an old acquaintance, even years later. In the spirit of this tradition, we are collectively and sensitively furnishing the park. In this way, we hopefully do our bit to make a clean and safe park come alive through meeting and sharing. And we donate everything we gather and create together.

Note on taking photos during the event

We will take photographs and audio-visual recordings during the lunch. Our goal is to inform the public about the community event through the media, our own website and social media. We trust that we will not bother you with this, and we also give you our word that we will pre-sort the footage we take with thought and sensitivity before publishing it. Thank you for your understanding and we wish you good taste.
