Question
The questions first... you know? They don't exist, we'll just get through it... that's the way it's supposed to be. Well, then the question is, what's the point? You've done exhibitions, there's been research through art, but the formulation of the research question and all the elements that we wanted from you, you just refused. And then there's the endless question: what is art research? What was your research question? I had a friend, and his hair stood up in horror because every time he went to school, he knew at the bus stop that he was going to hear "research question." He developed an allergy to the research question. He would get questions that he couldn't understand, he would answer in a way that others couldn't understand. With these art PhDs, that kind of primitive question is terribly important: Will one make better art if one also does a PhD? My answer to that question is that through practice, when my art is not the end of my work but the means, I can articulate something new that hasn't been known, that hasn't been articulated. The research question is always changing. You are in constant communication and questions are being asked. And those questions are not an attack. The questions are meant to stimulate dialogue. My classic and hated question is: why should I care about your PhD? Why? That's a good question. I don't know... I think that's a question for everybody. But it's a research question! What's the research question? No, I'll never ask you that again. But you know you're asking questions? Oh, yeah, of course. I'd like to ask you the same question. And I'll ask you the other question. Why does it matter? It's the same as the first question.
The Problem
When you produce an exhibition but at the same time have to write down what it's going to be about at the beginning of the process, it's always a problem. And it's not a generational problem. They've all had the experience, they've done it many times, and yet - as if intuitively - it's a problem. And because it can't, it shouldn't really be a problem. The only way to not solve this, but to find a way to solve all the problems, is simply to be responsible for the system that I'm creating. The new knowledge can relate to art, to a social problem, or to a phenomenon that goes across things. So that's not a problem for us. So it's really just technical problems.
Time
How time is running out,
the definition is actually an attempt
about stopping something in time.
I don't know if it's time
for other forms
education.
Relationship
Lessons learned, or distorted by the fact that everything can be decomposed
into components and describe the relationships between them.
Ecological sustainability of relationships?
I'm relating, as I always do.

Where should the exchange take place - at the level of intellect and at the level of resources? The school will create a terrarium. There is warmth, there are resources, intense attention, exchange, utopia. And then one finds oneself outside and finds that there is neither interest nor resources. Doctorate as a promise of returning resources, attention, communication, talent development? So resources, energy... We know that there is energy in it, that we can take it from it, that we have to install it in such a way that it has something to generate it from. Schools need their energy to create new knowledge, future staff to create that system and give back, then to have PhD students and so on. Is that the energy of knowledge? Actually, they talk about responsibility to the resources, to yourself, to get in touch with those resources. That there is an exchange of energies is clear, it's an organic machine... There the forces are balanced, that's why it's a dialogue. They generate energy when they are not isolated.
explain/world
It's kind of a self-explanatory system:
I'm still explaining why.
Always defending and explaining and questioning.
Explaining to the others.
Explaining to someone who's in the business of bending iron,
that I'm thinking about vulnerability.
She comes - and that's when I explain to her.
I keep breaking it back down and explaining it again.
It's working fine, and you're not explaining it any further.
And that's what you can try to explain.
To broaden knowledge of the world.
Research
#1
The artistic research is.
The research through art was there.
What is this artistic research?
Everyone always comes up with a definition,
what research is an art.
I can imagine, of course,
but actually more theoretically, because the practical solution
I haven't found much yet.
#2
lying in the grass and watching the clouds is a form of research,
method of doctoral studies,
which is confusing
and at the same time it's tolerable
for artistic research.
#3
Artistic research is a framework,
which says that the goal
is not to make art.
#4
Artistic research is only
one of the forms of art,
that have been institutionalized.
Isn't that common?
Shouldn't it be?
I think that maybe this
artistic research
Actually, it is.
Isn't that common?
Shouldn't it be?
